Tip 1

Step away, not towards

When your child is doing something adventurous, stay nearby but don’t intervene unless absolutely necessary. When you feel like jumping in, count to 20 to slow yourself down. You’ll be amazed at what they can do!

Tip 2

Mix it up

There are many ways to encourage healthy risk-taking during play, and while they may sound scary, research shows they’re good for kids at appropriate levels. They can play at heights, play with high speed, play rough and tumble, and play lost. Try the ones you feel good about and watch your toddler grow.
